The Institute of Advanced Studies is honored to welcome Professor Benedetto Allotta, Professor of Robotics and Mechanism Design at the Department of Industrial Engineering, Università degli Studi di Firenze, Italy, as part of the as part of the Lowy Distinguished Guest Professors series 2025–2026.

 

In this lecture, titled “Underwater Robotics Research at the University of Florence”, Professor Allotta will present his lab’s pioneering research on underwater robotic systems. Attendees will discover how advanced engineering solutions are enabling precise navigation, exploration, and intervention in aquatic environments, combining innovation with real-world operational challenges.
