The Institute of Advanced Studies is honored to welcome Professor Benedetto Allotta, Professor of Robotics and Mechanism Design at the Department of Industrial Engineering, Università degli Studi di Firenze, Italy, as part of the Lowy Distinguished Guest Professors series 2025–2026.

 

In this lecture, delivered within the Biological and Soft Matter Physics Seminar series, Professor Allotta will share insights from the MDM Lab’s pioneering research on wearable robotics. Attendees will explore how cutting-edge robotic technologies are being developed to restore and enhance human hand function, combining engineering innovation with rehabilitation science to open new frontiers in human–machine interaction.
