The Institute for Advanced Studies promotes and supports visits to Tel Aviv University by leading international scholars and distinguished experts across a wide range of academic fields.

Candidates are selected by the IAS Board based on their prominence in innovative and essential areas of scientific and academic advancement. Special priority is given to fields in which collaboration between an IAS visitor and an existing research group at the University can offer meaningful mutual benefit.

IAS Distinguished Scholars may be invited for a period of 1–2 weeks or 1–3 months and are expected to deliver several lectures during their stay.

During their visit, IAS Distinguished Scholars are welcome to pursue their own research, collaborate with University colleagues, or participate broadly in the academic life of the campus. Many visitors choose to offer lectures in their areas of expertise; these talks often become semester highlights, attracting scholars from across Israel.

IAS Distinguished Scholars receive coverage of their travel expenses to Israel, based on the cost of an economy-class ticket. In addition, they are provided with accommodation up to $170 per night and a per diem of $75 per working day (weekends and holidays not included). Final visit dates are coordinated with the scholar’s Faculty host and the IAS office. The Faculty host is responsible for providing office space during the visit.
