The Lowy Distinguished Guest Professor framework supports the invitation of eminent international scholars to Tel Aviv University. During their stay, these visitors hold the title of Lowy Distinguished Guest Professor.

Candidates are nominated by TAU faculty members and selected by the IAS Board based on their leadership, outstanding achievements, and prominence in innovative and essential academic fields. Special priority is given to areas where collaboration with existing University research groups can be most impactful.

Lowy Distinguished Guest Professors are invited for 1–2 weeks or 1–3 months and are expected to deliver lectures in their field of expertise. These lectures often become semester highlights, attracting academics from across Israel.

During their visit, professors are free to pursue their own research, collaborate with University colleagues, or engage in the academic life of the campus in any way they see fit.

Travel expenses to Israel (economy-class airfare) are reimbursed. Accommodation is provided up to $170 per night, along with a per diem of $75 per working day (weekends and holidays not included). The visit schedule is coordinated with the Faculty host and IAS office, with the Faculty host providing office space.
