Read the TAU directive for hosting international scholars

Tel Aviv University and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) have agreed to establish the TAU–ICCR India Chair. The first of its kind in Israel, this initiative will enable TAU to host leading Indian scholars each year, across a range of academic fields, under the academic visitor directive.
The India Chair Visiting Professor will spend one full semester at TAU (Spring semester preferred; Fall semester possible), teach one course, and deliver a lecture series. The course will be a full academic course requested by the host department for its study program. The series will be on contemporary issues in India, open to all TAU students as well as to the wider public.
The TAU-India guest will be selected annually via a call for proposals. The call for 2026-7 academic year is closed.
Core Conditions:
• ICCR will cover the Visiting Professor’s salary and travel expenses.
• The Lowy International School, via the IAS, will fund and arrange on-campus accommodation,
arrange health insurance, provide administrative support, and coordinate the lecture
series.
• The Host School will provide a work space for the guest, oversee the academic aspects of the visit, and appoint a faculty member to serve as a host for the visitor during their stay.
• The Visiting Professor arrives in Israel approximately one week before the start of the
relevant semester.
