Acting workshop: “Acting, Doing, Reflecting”
Guest Lecturer: Professor Peter Ender, Professor Emeritus of Acting, Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), Switzerland
How do actors think, speak, and act—and how can language itself become a tool for performance?
The Institute of Advanced Studies is pleased to host Professor Peter Ender as part of the IAS Distinguished Scholars framework. Professor Ender will lead a five-day special acting workshop, held in the framework of the Department of Theatre Arts, focusing on the interplay between language, action, and reflection in the craft of acting.
The workshop, titled Acting, Doing, Reflecting, will introduce participants to perceptual, linguistic, and methodological tools essential for contemporary actor training. Through scene work, gestural-speech methods, and reflective practice, students will explore how intention, language, and imagination shape performance. The workshop will also draw on Don Carlos by Schiller as a case study for understanding linguistic intention in acting.
This intensive module is designed for registered students only and aims to expand their creative range, enhance rehearsal communication, and build a strong methodological basis for future artistic work.

Time: Daily, 10:00–14:00
Where: Room 207a (Mirror Room), Mexico Building
