Abstract

The relationship between these two major prophets is intriguing. On the one hand, they have very different profiles: Ezekiel lives in the Exile, is concerned with matters of purity, and his scroll ends with a long, attractive presentation of a new temple. In contrast, Jeremiah remains mostly within Judah, concentrates on analyzing how the catastrophe of 587 BCE came about, and finishes with the end for Jerusalem and its temple. On the other hand, both prophets share quite a number of coincidences. This raises the question of their relationship and invites to investigate further how to understand these links and the respective texts.
